Intermediate Systems Testing/QA Specialist
We are Systematix and we are currently looking for a Intermediate Systems Testing/QA Specialist for our client.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Our client is seeking a Systems Testing / QA Specialist to support enterprise testing efforts in a government environment, including work that may be partially assigned to Bill 5 related initiatives as needed. This role will help drive quality across application delivery through structured manual and automated testing, defect management, test planning, and stakeholder collaboration. The environment is fully onsite and requires strong public sector awareness, quality discipline, and experience working across both GUI and non-GUI systems.
ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, you will plan, develop, execute, and report on testing activities across functional, integration, regression, performance, accessibility, and user acceptance testing streams. You will work closely with developers, business analysts, project managers, and testing leads to ensure high-quality delivery and strong alignment with project timelines and regulatory requirements.
- Provide advice on testing strategy, test plans, testing tools, and resource requirements.
- Plan and organize testing efforts for large systems in GUI and non-GUI environments, including systems integration, specialized testing, and user acceptance testing.
- Develop and execute test plans, test scripts, test cases, and test data across multiple phases of testing.
- Execute functional, integration, system, regression, accessibility, performance, stress, and load tests.
- Validate system behavior under various conditions and ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across system components and databases.
- Identify, document, and track defects using tools such as ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, and Azure DevOps.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as UFT, Selenium, TestComplete, or Postman, and support CI/CD integration.
- Collaborate with developers to reproduce and resolve issues and participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Maintain detailed documentation of test results, coverage, quality metrics, user manual input, and release note support.
- Ensure testing activities comply with AODA standards, regulatory requirements, and established QA processes.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must-have:
- 5+ years of experience developing test cases, test scripts, data requirements, and test scenarios for manual testing.
- 5+ years of experience creating traceability between business requirements and testing deliverables, including test data and coverage validation.
- Experience testing enterprise-level systems and familiarity with ministry QA processes and standards within OPS.
- Previous experience working in Government or Public Sector organizations.
- Experience with Agile methodology.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- 2+ years of experience developing and testing software applications using automated testing.
- Knowledge of test automation tools such as Katalon, Selenium, Appium, or similar.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) or SaaS solutions, preferably Oracle Siebel Public Sector.
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or SoapUI and familiarity with RESTful services and SOAP.
- Working knowledge of SharePoint, .NET Web, Web Services, HTML, JavaScript, Java, Perl, and scripting technologies used for automation.
- Experience using tools such as TestRail, Zephyr, ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, or Azure DevOps for test and defect management.
- Experience conducting backend testing with database queries and validating data migration or transformation results.
- Experience conducting basic security testing and collaborating with security specialists for deeper assessments.
- Experience developing performance test scripts using tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner and analyzing performance bottlenecks.
- Knowledge of AODA standards, information management principles, and object-oriented testing methods.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Location: Onsite – Toronto, ON (40 St Clair Avenue West)
Duration: May 4, 2026 – March 31, 2027
Work hours: 36.25 hrs/week (7.25 hours/day, Monday to Friday)
PAY DISCLOSURE:
The average hourly pay range for this field is as follows:
- Intermediate: 6–9 years of experience — $63–$66.07/hr
Compensation is commensurate with these standards; exceptions may apply based on experience, skills, and market conditions.
