Systems Administrator, Cloud Services/Office 365 (HYBRID)
We are Systematix and we are looking for a senior Systems Administrator for Cloud Services with strong Office 365/Teams admin experience to fill a 6-month contract-to-hire position with one of our key clientele in the Toronto/GTA area.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Our client, a service-driven paper and packaging products company and one of Canada’s largest paper manufacturers employing over a 1000 people at eight manufacturing plants and four distribution centers, is seeking a System Administrator for Cloud Services to play a crucial role in managing and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure, with a focus on Office 365 and Teams admin. You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, security, and optimal performance cloud services and applications. Your technical expertise and proactive approach will contribute to the smooth operation of IT systems and enable efficient collaboration and productivity across the organization.
ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and maintain the Office 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams.
Monitor the performance and availability of cloud services, proactively identifying and resolving any issues to ensure optimal system performance and uptime.
Configure and administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights within the Office 365 environment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and implement Office 365 solutions and features that align with business requirements.
Conduct regular data backups, implement disaster recovery strategies, and ensure the integrity and security of corporate data stored in the cloud.
Monitor and manage security controls, including identity and access management, data loss prevention, and threat detection.
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in cloud computing, Office 365, and related technologies, and provide recommendations for system enhancements and optimizations.
Collaborate with IT team members to troubleshoot and resolve user issues related to Office 365 and cloud services promptly.
Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to maintain an up-to-date knowledge base and ensure effective knowledge sharing among team members.
Assist in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new cloud-based solutions and technologies to improve system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 7+ years proven experience as a System Administrator or similar role, with a focus on managing cloud-based infrastructure and Office 365.
Strong knowledge of Office 365 applications, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams.
Familiarity with cloud computing concepts, infrastructure, and services, preferably Microsoft Azure.
Experience in administering security controls and implementing data protection measures in a cloud environment.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications in Office 365 or related cloud technologies (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert) would be an advantage.
Knowledge of ITIL principles and experience in IT service management would be beneficial.

Strong decision-making skills with ability to effectively communicate impact and implications of decisions and ensure right stakeholders are informed where necessary.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position with strong opportunity to turn into fulltime work based on performance involving a hybrid model of remote and onsite work in the east end of Toronto. Must be flexible with willingness to work minimum three days a week onsite.

Our client, a service-driven paper and packaging products company and one of Canada’s largest paper manufacturers employing over a 1000 people at eight manufacturing plants and four distribution centers, is seeking a Windows Systems Administrator responsible for managing and maintaining their Windows-based infrastructure, ensuring the smooth operation of the organization's computer systems. You will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and supporting Windows servers and related technologies.
ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Install, configure, and maintain Windows server operating systems and related software in a VMware environment.
Monitor and manage Windows servers, services, and applications to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
Perform regular system backups and ensure data integrity and disaster recovery capabilities.
Manage Active Directory, including user accounts, permissions, and group policies.
Install, configure, and maintain various server roles and features, such as DHCP, DNS, file services, and print services.
Monitor and maintain system security, including antivirus software, firewalls, and system patches and updates.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Windows systems, network connectivity, and application software.
Monitor system logs and proactively identify and address potential issues or security vulnerabilities.
Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate Windows systems with other platforms and technologies.
Create and maintain system documentation, including configuration details, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures.
Conduct system performance analysis and capacity planning to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices related to Windows systems administration.
ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3-to-5 years' proven experience as a Windows System Administrator or similar role. Strong knowledge of Windows server operating systems, including Windows Server 2016/2019/2022. Good exposure to RMM (Remote Monitoring and Management) agent softwares such as ManageEngine.
Familiarity with Active Directory, group policies and user management. Experience with VMware.
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and system management tasks.
Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of backup and disaster recover procedures.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Relevant certifications such as MCSA or MCSE would be a plus.
