Electrical Engineering Technologist

Systematix is currently looking for an Electrical Engineering Technologist to enable design, integration and verification of key technologies on world-class, state-of-the-art analytical instruments for our Life Sciences technologies client.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Our client is one of North America’s leading Scientific Test and Measurement organizations, with offices worldwide. Their global footprint and outstanding service have made them a trusted partner worldwide amongst scientists in drug development, food and environment testing, and clinical research. Working as Engineering Technologist as part of the Hardware Product Development team, you will collaborate with high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams engaging in all phases of the product development life cycle process , from concept realization through to commercialization and post-launch.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performing system-level troubleshooting of test-beds during early research and product commercialization phases of project, to maximize test-bed evaluation uptime
• Collaborating with engineering and/or research scientists to conduct system characterization, while documenting and reporting-out on measurements based upon experiments and evaluations.
• Working closely with engineers, scientists and other engineering technologists to kit, assemble and integrate components and sub-assemblies for R&D-grade test-beds
• Working with systems engineering and technical leads to ensure that proper configuration management of testbeds are maintained during above-noted project phases

ABOUT THE QUALIFICATIONS

Accreditation from a Canadian college or equivalently-accredited post-secondary institution as an Electrical (EE) or Mechanical (ME) Engineering Technologist. Preference will be given to EE technologists who bring demonstrated experience in Mechanical integration, or ME technologists who bring a similar focus to Electrical integration.

Eligibility for certification by a provincial or territorial association (eg OACETT) is a requirement

Familiarity with manufacturing processes, and having direct experience in precision assembly and build of electro-mechanical prototypes (whether from a manufacturing or R&D environment ) is a strong asset

Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and repair of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) through use of electronic test & measurement systems (eg DVMs, oscilloscopes, data loggers, logic analyzers, etc)

3+ years of workplace experience in the above-mentioned capacity (co-op experience may be considered if relevant to the role)

Must be proactive, results-oriented and willing to be part of a larger team working in conjunction with engineers and scientists.

Ability able to multi-task between work activities, work to challenging deadlines and have strong organizational skills.

Excellent report-writing and oral communication skills for creating and sharing reports

This is a 6-month onsite contract role to be performed in the North Toronto area.

Cloud Hosting Engineer

We are Systematix and we are currently looking for a Cloud Hosting and Automation Engineer to manage our client’s cloud hosting infrastructure to meet the need of corporate and emerging digital applications.
 
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Our client is a global leader in science and technology, providing a breadth of expertise and solutions to customers worldwide. Working as Cloud Hosting and Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the cloud hosting infrastructure and maintaining on-premises servers running Hyper-V. In this role, you will play a critical role in architecting and automating our cloud solutions, as well as ensuring seamless integration with Active Directory, Office 365, and Azure environments. Your expertise in DevOps practices, scripting, and cloud orchestration tools will be essential in optimizing our cloud infrastructure and driving efficiency.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES

Cloud Infrastructure Management: Architect, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure on platforms such as AWS and Azure. Design scalable, secure, and highly available cloud solutions tailored to our business needs.
On-Premises Server Management: Configure, monitor, and maintain on-premises servers running Hyper-V. Ensure optimal performance, availability, and security of the server environment.
Active Directory Integration: Integrate cloud solutions with Active Directory, ensuring seamless user management, authentication, and access control across cloud and on-premises environments.
Office 365 and Azure Integration: Collaborate with teams to implement and integrate Office 365 and Azure services into our cloud infrastructure, leveraging features such as Azure AD, Exchange Online, and SharePoint Online.
Automation and Orchestration: Develop and implement automation solutions to streamline provisioning, configuration, and management of cloud resources. Utilize tools like PowerShell scripting, Python, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation and Terraform.
Continuous Improvement: Continuously assess and optimize cloud infrastructure performance, security, and cost efficiency. Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement to enhance overall operational effectiveness.
Scripting and Tooling: Utilize Python scripting and command-line interfaces (CLIs) of AWS and other cloud platforms to develop custom automation scripts and tools to support cloud operations.
Configuration Management: Implement configuration management tools like Ansible to automate the deployment and configuration of cloud resources, ensuring consistency and reproducibility.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure configurations, automation workflows, and troubleshooting guides. Share knowledge and provide guidance to team members.

 ABOUT THE REQUIRED SKILLS:

Strong experience managing and maintaining on-premises servers running Hyper-V.
Proficiency in architecting, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure on platforms like AWS and Azure.
Solid understanding of DevOps principles and experience implementing automation and orchestration solutions for cloud environments.
Experience integrating cloud solutions with Active Directory, Office 365, and Azure services.
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation and infrastructure management.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation and Terraform.
Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible.
Understanding of cloud security best practices and experience implementing security controls.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in complex cloud environments.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
