Data Center Technician
We are Systematix and we are looking for a Data Center Technician to fill a contract position with one of our key clientele in the equipment manufacturing industry in the GTA – just north of Toronto.
About the Project
Our client, one of the world’s leading commercial, industrial and construction equipment manufactures, is seeking a Data Center Technician to work with the DC Operations Team assisting with installation and support of infrastructure, data centers and network closet. The successful candidate is an outgoing self-starter who is willing to show initiative and learn quickly on the job.
About the Responsibilities
- Managing/setting up servers (physical & virtual) using management tools: HP SIM/Oneview, Solarwinds, iLo Amplifier, 5Nine
- Managing/setting up UPS
- Installation/removal of equipment in DCs (data centers)
- Creating & updating documentation
- Updating Active Directory server info
Support:
- HPE SIM (monitor alerts, run reports, version upgrades, add servers)
- HPE OneView (version upgrades)
- HPE Insight Remote Support (monitor alerts, version upgrades, add HPE hardware)
- Solarwinds:
- Investigate disk space issues
- Add servers
- Update Solarwinds version
Hardware:
- Respond to server hardware failures (drives, RAM, NIC, power supplies, etc)
- Troubleshoot physical server issues with HPE
- HPE server SPP (firmware and drivers updates)
- Decommission hardware
- Setup rack mount servers, blades
Server Setup:
- Setup all virtual servers (HyperV & ESX)
- Maintain virtual server templates (HyperV & ESX)
- Setup OVA appliance servers
- Setup physical servers
- Setup branch servers ML350, ML110 (2 Hyper-V VMs, data migration to file server)
- Shipping hardware, UPS and branch servers (pack and bring server to shipper at building B)
- Troubleshooting hardware issues ie UPS, PDU, ATS
- Break and fix issues:
- Troubleshooting with vendors support
- Coordinating with vendors to replace hardware
- Updating Server setup documentation and creating other setup documents
- Updating and maintaining servers and decommission Excel sheets
- Updating AD server object descriptions and attributes
Data Center:
- Installing/removing hardware in racks, ie servers, UPS, PDU, ATS
- Cross connecting BIX connections
- Running and removing FC cables
- Labelling cables
- Backup Tbox support
- DC daily walkthrough
- Update rack spread sheet
- Monitor alerts from rack PDU, ATS, UPS
- Troubleshooting connection issues
UPS:
- Setup/replace Eaton UPS
- Troubleshoot UPS issues
- Monitor UPS alerts
- UPS network card firmware update
- Updating Eaton IPM with new UPS
About the Requirements
- Analytical with high detail, self-motivated, self-driven.
- Technical understanding & troubleshooting abilities
- Experience with computer hardware & windows OS.
- Basic understanding of networking
- Works well with team & individually.
- Experience with computer virtualization
Work Hours/Travel:
- There is occasional after hours work (evenings/weekends)
- Travel to other branches across Canada required (Mostly in the GTA). Expenses/mileage covered.
Physical Work:
- Physical work entails lifting of boxes, installing servers & running network cabling
- Must be able to lift 35lb boxes
About the Role
This is a six (6) month contract position (full-time hours) located in Concord, Ontario involving a hybrid of remote and onsite work. (4 days onsite, 1 day remote). Strong possibility of extension or optionally turning into fulltime perm, based on performance.

Network Engineer
Systematix is currently looking for a Network Engineer to develop, maintain and support a growing number of services for one of the global leaders in Life Sciences technologies.
About the Project
Our client is one of the world’s leading Life Sciences companies, with offices around the globe. Working as Network Engineer, you will be supporting the secure integration of networks globally. You will be responsible for promoting and implementing network standards, policies and procedures as well as resolving technical issues raised from the Network Operations team. You will be part of a Global Infrastructure team and communication across teams and disciplines is critical to the role.
About the Responsibilities
- Deploying and maintaining local and wide area networks for our client and its operating companies.
- Maintaining accurate network documentation
- Researching and recommending improvements to the production network.
- Providing tier 3 escalation for troubleshooting complex network issues.
- Participating in tier 3 ‘on call’ rotations with other network team members.
- Interacting on a regular basis with other members of the global network team.
About the Qualifications
- Strong experience with routing protocols and topologies (BGP, OSPF, VRF)
- Extensive experience with Cisco catalyst and nexus switches
- Extensive experience with Cisco routers
- Experience with Cisco wireless solutions.
- Experience with firewalls. (Palo, Illumio)
- Experience with VPN technologies (IPSec, GRE, DMVPN, DTLS)
- Experience with authentication protocols and implementations. (ISE, TACACS, RADIUS, 802.1x)
- Experience with automation tools such as python or ansible
- Experience with any of the following technologies is a plus.
- Mist Wireless, Juniper NFX, Juniper EX, F5 LTM, DNS, LINUX, Virtualization
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is preferred
- Exceptional written and spoken communication

Network Operations Analyst
We are Systematix and we are looking for a Network Operations Analyst to fill a 6-month+ contract position (hybrid role) with one of our key clientele in the equipment manufacturing industry just north of Toronto.
About the Project
Our client, one of the world’s leading commercial, industrial and construction equipment manufactures, is seeking a Network Operations Analyst to work with Network Engineering team to provide network support for client group of companies.
Key duties of this position focus on proactive monitoring, operational support and remote management of the network infrastructure. Working with other members of the Network Operations team, the candidate is expected to manage all aspects of day-to- day support activities and escalations as required.
The successful candidate is an outgoing self-starter who is willing to show initiative and learn quickly on the job.
About the Responsibilities
- Provide network support
- Proactive network monitoring and maintenance
- Working with the network operations team, maintain all aspects of the network infrastructure
- Identify, diagnose and resolve network incidents as quickly as possible
- Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness providing exceptional customer service
- Given specific customer requirements, demonstrate ability to manage network projects independently
- Occasional afterhours support
- Dependable vehicle is required for occasional travel
About the Requirements
- 2+ years in a network support role
- Industry certifications an asset but focus will be on technical abilities
- ITIL v3/v4 Foundations is highly desirable
Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience providing network support via telephone, emails and helpdesk request. Experience configuring Cisco wireless, switches
- Working knowledge of an ITIL/ITSM driven environment
- Cisco routers and switches
- Enterprise controller-based Wireless
- Firewall technologies and general network security practices Windows Administration tasks (DHCP, DNS, etc)
- VoIP/QoS
- Network management tools (e.g. Cisco Prime, Solarwinds)
- Network performance tools (e.g. NetFlow, Wireshark)
- Ability to document Network design and solutions
- Physical network activities including rack/stack and cabling
- Understanding incident and service management methodologies
- Strong communication – verbal/written/interpersonal skills
About the Role
