Red Hat Ansible Architect / Senior Automation Specialist (Healthcare GTA)
Systematix is currently seeking an experienced Red Hat Ansible Architect / Senior Automation Specialist to support our healthcare sector client in modernizing and standardizing their infrastructure automation environment.
This engagement will focus on implementing Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, assessing the client's existing server infrastructure, developing a migration strategy, and transitioning systems to a centralized automation framework. The successful consultant will provide both architectural guidance and hands-on technical expertise to establish automation standards, develop playbooks and runbooks, and ensure operational readiness following implementation.
This role requires a strong combination of architecture, automation, and infrastructure expertise. The consultant will be expected to assess current-state environments, define migration approaches, document operational processes, and provide technical leadership throughout the implementation lifecycle.
LOCATION & WORK HOURS
Location: Primarily Remote within Ontario. Occasional onsite meetings may be required in Downtown Toronto / GTA during project initiation and planning activities.
Work Hours: Monday–Friday aligned with Eastern Time business hours (7.5 hrs/day)
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Initial 2-month contract with strong potential for extension to 3 months based on project scope and implementation requirements

THE ROLE – Red Hat Ansible Architect / Senior Automation Specialist
As the Red Hat Ansible Architect / Senior Automation Specialist, you will lead the design, implementation, and rollout of Ansible Automation Platform across the client's server environment. You will assess existing infrastructure, define migration and automation strategies, and establish operational standards for ongoing support and administration.
You will work closely with infrastructure teams and stakeholders to ensure automation capabilities are implemented in a scalable, secure, and maintainable manner.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the installation and configuration of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform
Assess existing server infrastructure and operational processes
Develop a migration strategy for transitioning servers and workloads to the Ansible platform
Design and implement Ansible playbooks, roles, templates, and automation workflows
Create operational runbooks and support documentation
Establish automation standards, governance practices, and deployment procedures
Identify and remediate technical issues impacting migration and automation readiness
Provide architectural guidance for infrastructure automation initiatives
Collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to validate automation requirements
Support knowledge transfer activities and operational readiness planning
Document implementation approach, migration activities, and future-state support processes
Provide technical leadership throughout the implementation lifecycle
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience
8+ years of infrastructure, systems administration, DevOps, or automation experience
Demonstrated experience implementing Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform in enterprise environments
Strong experience developing Ansible playbooks, roles, inventories, and automation workflows
Experience automating Linux server administration and infrastructure operations
Experience performing infrastructure assessments and migration planning
Strong understanding of enterprise server environments and operational support models
Experience creating technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
Ability to work independently while providing technical leadership
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments
Experience supporting healthcare, public-sector, or highly regulated organizations
Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, or containerized environments
Experience integrating Ansible with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation best practices
Familiarity with Terraform, GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, or related automation frameworks
Installed and configured Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform

PAY DISCLOSURE
Intermediate Red Hat Ansible Automation Specialist (5+ years' experience): $80 – $100 per hour
Senior Red Hat Ansible Architect / Automation Specialist (8+ years' experience): $100 – $130 per hour
Compensation is commensurate with experience, certifications, technical expertise, healthcare industry experience, and current market conditions.
