ABOUT THE PROJECT: Our client is seeking a Senior Business Architect to support business and application architecture initiatives within a complex government environment. This role focuses on analyzing government business information, developing business architecture artefacts, and leading stakeholder workshops to align business capabilities, processes, and solution direction. The work sits in a highly structured public sector setting where governance, compliance, security, and cross-functional alignment are essential.
ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES: In this role, you will lead the development of business architecture and application architecture deliverables that support enterprise-scale initiatives. You will work closely with government contacts, stakeholders, and project teams to gather requirements, facilitate workshops, model business processes, and guide architecture approvals through governance processes.
Analyze government information relevant to business architecture and consult with government contacts on key architecture elements.
Develop and maintain business architecture artefacts, models, and related deliverables.
Lead and facilitate workshops, focus groups, validation sessions, and review sessions to gather business and application information.
Capture business requirements, conduct business process re-engineering, and support business design and optimization initiatives.
Develop business processes using BPMN and apply business architecture methods such as business functional modeling, service lifecycle modeling, business event modeling, process mapping, and value chain analysis.
Lead solution and application architecture activities, including security and privacy considerations for enterprise-scale COTS and SaaS solutions.
Prepare and present architecture deliverables to governance bodies, review boards, and approval forums.
Support project teams through governance checkpoints, privacy impact assessments, threat risk assessments, and related technical or security assessment processes.
Create architecture artefacts, models, and reports using tools such as PowerDesigner.
Identify issues, risks, and mitigation strategies while reporting progress to project leads, teams, and management.
REQUIREMENTS: Must-have:
10+ years of experience delivering business architecture work in government settings or similarly complex multi-project, multi-client organizations.
Strong understanding of diverse business environments, especially government and compliance or regulatory functions.
Hands-on experience developing required business architecture artefacts.
Experience leading and facilitating workshops to gather business and application information, including validation and review sessions.
Experience leading all aspects of solution design, including security and privacy.
Demonstrated experience leading and delivering business architecture and application architecture projects.
Experience guiding project teams through governance processes, including project gating and architecture governance points.
Experience capturing business requirements, process re-engineering opportunities, business goals, and performance measures.
Experience with BPMN and enterprise architecture deliverables such as models and architecture artefacts.
Nice-to-have:
Experience architecting enterprise-scale COTS or SaaS solutions such as Oracle Siebel.
Experience leading teams through Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA), Threat Risk Assessment (TRA), and related technical or security assessments.
Experience preparing and delivering presentations to cluster and corporate architecture review boards to obtain approvals.
Experience with enterprise architecture integration across business, information, application, technical, and security domains.
Experience with agile delivery environments.
Knowledge of the Zachman Framework across business, information, application, technology, and security architectures.
Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) standards and related accessibility requirements.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, consensus-building, and stakeholder management skills.
ABOUT THE ROLE: Location: Onsite – Toronto, ON (40 St. Clair Ave W, 5 days/week) Duration: April 20, 2026 – March 31, 2027 Work hours: 37.5 hrs/week PAY DISCLOSURE: The average hourly pay range for this field is as follows:
Senior: 10+ years of experience — $101–$107/hr

Solution Architect / Technical Lead
Systematix is currently seeking an experienced Solution Architect / Technical Lead to support our client, a major provincial energy utility, in delivering several enterprise technology initiatives across operational technology (OT), security, integration platforms, and enterprise systems.
This engagement will provide technical leadership across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring that architecture standards are followed, integrations are properly designed, and technical dependencies are accounted for in project delivery. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, vendors, and platform providers to guide the technical direction of these initiatives.
This role requires strong communication and leadership capabilities, as the consultant will be expected to participate actively in architecture discussions, contribute to design decisions, and provide technical direction across projects.

THE ROLE – Solution Architect / Technical Lead
As the Solution Architect / Technical Lead, you will provide architectural guidance and technical leadership across a range of enterprise technology initiatives. You will help ensure projects account for technical dependencies, integration requirements, and enterprise architecture standards.
You will also work with internal technology teams and external vendors to define configuration requirements, integration patterns, and security architecture needed to support system implementations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide solution architecture and technical leadership across multiple enterprise initiatives
Ensure project plans incorporate required technical dependencies and integration points
Define integration approaches between internal systems and vendor platforms
Provide guidance on connector placement, security integration, and platform configuration

Collaborate with vendors and implementation partners to align on technical architecture

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline
10+ years experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or technical leadership roles
Experience designing and implementing complex enterprise system integrations
Experience leading architecture and design discussions across cross?functional teams
Strong experience working with vendor?delivered enterprise platforms
Experience designing secure integrations including SSO, identity integration, and security monitoring
Experience with enterprise integration platforms and middleware
Strong documentation, communication, and presentation skills
Ability to confidently participate in technical discussions and provide architectural leadership
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience supporting energy, utilities, or critical infrastructure organizations
Experience working with operational technology (OT) environments
Experience with integration platforms such as Boomi
