Business Systems Analyst
Systematix is currently looking for a Business Systems Analyst to join a team of experts on a challenging and transformational project.
About the Project
Our client is a Canadian global company experiencing dramatic growth. They are looking for a Business Systems Analyst to consultant within the Product team, providing IT solutions to solve business challenges, and bridge the IT requirements that address the functionality of a financial solution. This position requires strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills. The chosen candidate must be able to prioritize their time and execute their responsibilities with minimal supervision while keeping pace with a rapid development timeline.
About the Responsibilities
- Work with business stakeholders, external partners, and software development teams to analyze business challenges, design practical and attainable solutions, and prioritize work to maximize the business value delivered by the software development teams.
- Develop, maintain, and strengthen effective relationships with business and IT stakeholders.
- Act as a bridge between business and DevOps teams – convert business requirements into functional requirements.
- Help document and communicate the strategic vision for the products within the portfolio of responsibility.
- Create clearly defined Epics, Features, and User Stories that clearly communicate the customer and stakeholder needs to the development teams while remaining consistent with the product vision.
- Prioritize the backlogs to ensure the current work focuses on maximizing the value the development team brings to the business and that drives the product forward along its strategic path.
- Understand and document data flows and system interactions both within the portfolio of products as well as with systems outside of the portfolio.
- Remain flexible with multiple shifting priorities and effectively function under deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end customer experience integration and dependencies.
- Foster a sense of urgency to achieve goals and leverage resources to overcome unexpected obstacles.
- Provide input and take actions to resolve escalated production issues. Take steps to minimize future issues.
About the Requirements
- Undergraduate degree preferably of a technical, computer science, or engineering orientation.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in business analysis, solutions analyst, or a similar technical role.
- Experience working with System Integrations within a complex landscape of systems consisting of Managed Service/SaaS offerings and custom-built systems.
- Experience working with cloud technologies that require technical integration via web services to different types of functional systems.
- Expertise with full software development life cycle including functional & technical specification, documentation, QA processes, source control, maintenance, and deployments.
- Expertise with relational databases and ability to navigate through relational data structure andexperience working with SQL. (Well versed in SQL – write queries & pull data, data analysis, and read SQL stored procedures).
- The ability to clearly convey, verbally and in writing, complex information in a manner understandable by a wide range of audiences.
- The ability to break down projects into meaningful workstreams that iteratively deliver value to the customer.
- The ability to ask excellent questions of customers to distinguish between what they are asking for, what they truly need, and what can be delivered within resource constraints.
- Self-starter, results-oriented and motivated with excellent analytical and technical skills.
- Proven effectiveness at managing multiple tasks of varying complexities, meeting tight deadlines, and working well under pressure.
About the Role
This is a 3-month contract role to be performed in the Reading or London, UK offices, onsite. There is a strong intent to transition to a permanent role if both parties are amenable.

SAP Functional Analyst (FI/CO)
We are Systematix and we are looking for a SAP Functional Analyst (SAP FICO Financial Accounting and Controlling configuration expert) to fill a 12-month+ contract position with one of our National Media Clients in their Toronto, Ottawa, or Montreal offices.
About the Project
The successful candidate will possess analytical skills, customer focus and SAP technical knowledge, as well as a strong ability to design and configure SAP financial solutions in the FICO ECC module.
He or she will have the ability to gather business requirements through workshop sessions and translate these requirements into technical specifications to provide a list of viable solutions and recommendations.
The Functional Analyst is responsible for properly documenting requests or issues, coordinating with the technical team to resolve or analyze options, developing and testing selected options, and monitoring deployment into the production system.
The successful candidate will perform the tasks established by the SAP Solution Management Team.
About the Responsibilities
- Collecting, documenting, updating and reviewing business processes and scenarios into functional design documentation
- Responding to requests by the customers for enhancements, maintenance and break-fix activities
- Researching and proposing options and resolutions to issues or enhancements. Document and present outcomes to clients
- Participating and providing functional input into project base activities
- Providing estimates based on requirements (also required on a ticket by ticket basis)
- Providing input into project activities, project plans
- Configuration efforts for SAP FICO modules and Opentext VIM
- Reporting on activities into the assigned Project Manager
- Developing test plans and test strategy for unit and integration testing.
- Providing support to the user acceptance testing cycle.
- Participating and providing feedback in lessons learned sessions.
- Creating/updating functional documentation before delivery.
- Driving optimisation efforts with aligned business unit
- Providing assistance, guidance and training to the clients as needed.
- Advising on best practices and industry standards for solutions.
About the Requirements
- University degree in Administration, Finances, Computer Science or equivalent.
- Minimum seven years of experience as a functional analyst and five years of hands-on SAP configuration experience within the FI/CO, Sales and Distribution and/or Material Management (including COPA) module.
- Detailed understanding of configuring SAP FI/CO, Sales and Distribution and/or Material Management environments and detailed knowledge of the ECC 6 software suite.
- Experience with OpenText VIM (Vendor Invoice Management) solution for SAP Solutions, including Invoice Capture Center (ICC).
- Extensive experience in the documentation, analysis, research and design of solutions within a medium to large enterprise.
- Experience in assessing current business processes and aligning system functionality to optimize efforts. Ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Familiar with working in Agile Scrum Methodology.
- Familiar with change management and incident management methodologies and tools (ITSM, ITIL).
Assets:
- Knowledge of SAP BW and SAP PS (Project Systems)
- In-depth knowledge of systems development, project life cycle methodologies, and implementation experience
- Certification as an ‘SAP Certified Application Associate for Financial Accounting – strong plus.
- Certified Business Analyst Certification, PMP certification or training and knowledge of Agile practices for specification and testing
- Bilingualism, verbal and written French and English would be a strong asset, but NOT required.
About the Role
This is a 12-month full-time contract (Mon-Fri, 8 hours a day) engagement. Preference will be given to candidates residing within a reasonable distance from Toronto, Ottawa, or Montreal. This a HYBRID role that is mostly remote with occasional onsite, as required. There will be 2 renewal options of 1 year each.
