Senior Software Asset Manager
We are Systematix and we are looking for a Senior Software Asset Manager for an upcoming opportunity with a Federal Government department. The ideal candidate must already possess a security clearance at the Reliability level (Level I) or higher and be bilingual in both official languages (French and English).
About the Project
Senior Advisor, Software Asset Management service provider to help the client establish and mature its Software Asset Management (SAM) framework, governance, and operational processes, integrating with existing ServiceNow solutions.
About the Responsibilities
- Define and implement a long-term SAM strategy (3–5 year roadmap) aligned with the client’s digital and financial goals.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive SAM framework and governance model.
- Leverage ServiceNow and network discovery tools to manage the software lifecycle and ensure compliance.
- Integrate SAM data into financial planning and budgeting processes.
- Collaborate with Finance, Cybersecurity, Procurement, and FinOps to ensure data transparency and alignment.
- Manage software and subscription contracts, vendor relationships, and performance through QBRs and continuous improvement.
- Act as a mentor and role model, fostering empowerment, inclusivity, and psychological safety.
- Lead change initiatives, communicate effectively across all levels, and promote innovation.
- Make strategic decisions with enterprise-wide impact, anticipating stakeholder needs and building support.
- Serve as a data steward, ensuring SAM data is accurate, accessible, and aligned with the client’s technology roadmap.
- This role is responsible for establishing and maturing the client’s Software Asset Management (SAM) framework, governance, and operational processes.
- The service provider will bring a deep expertise in ServiceNow, software licensing, and network discovery tools, and will play a strategic role in integrating SAM with finance, cybersecurity, and FinOps.
- This function is critical to ensuring compliance, optimizing software spend, supporting the enterprise architecture roadmap, and enabling enterprise-wide decision-making.
- The service provider must be skilled not only in the management of assets but also in building strong relationships by identifying stakeholders and professional networks and relying on clear and effective communication.
- Resiliency is key and this role will ensure that the expertise and knowledge is included in a solid succession plan to guarantee SAM success.
About the Qualifications
- Have proven expertise in ServiceNow SAM and network discovery tools (e.g., SCCM).
- Strong understanding of software licensing, subscription models, and contract negotiation.
- Experience integrating SAM with finance, cybersecurity, and ITSM.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Software Asset Management or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence at all organizational levels.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Recognized as a coach, mentor, and change agent in previous roles.
- Bilingual in both official languages (French and English).
- ITIL, PMP, CSAM, or other SAM/ITAM certifications.
- Experience with systems such as SharePoint, ServiceNow, SCCM.
