Intel Server Support Specialist

We’re seeking an experienced Intel Server Support Specialist to assist our client,a large public utility, in maintaining, optimizing, and supporting its enterprise-scale Intel-based server infrastructure. This role focuses on server administration, performance optimization, incident response, and lifecycle management within a secure and high-availability environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring reliability, compliance, and scalability across the client’s core IT operations.

Location & Work Hours

  • Location: Remote, aligned with CST time zone
  • Start/End: November 1, 2025 – October 31, 2029 (48 months)
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST
  • Availability: Primarily remote, with potential for onsite visits required periodically.

Mandatory Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience, specializing in Intel-based server environments.
  • Proven expertise in Windows Server administration, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and enterprise storage systems.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with system patching, performance tuning, and capacity management.
  • Strong background in incident resolution, problem management, and root cause analysis in complex IT ecosystems.
  • Experience working within regulated or critical infrastructure environments (utility, energy, or government preferred).
  • Familiarity with backup/recovery systems, monitoring tools, and server security hardening practices.

Desired Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator Associate (or higher).
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) – Data Center Virtualization.
  • CompTIA Server+ or equivalent vendor certification.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation certification (asset).
  • NERC Personnel Risk Assessment eligibility, as required by SaskPower.

Preferred Experience

  • Administration of Intel-based server hardware platforms (Dell, HPE, Lenovo, or similar).
  • Support of enterprise virtualization environments integrated with storage and network systems.
  • Experience implementing disaster recovery and high-availability architectures.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting, automation, and monitoring frameworks (e.g., SolarWinds, SCOM).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance frameworks (NERC-CIP, ISO 27001).
  • Experience collaborating in multi-vendor IT environments and supporting RFP/RFS processes.

Key Deliverables

  • Ongoing operation and maintenance of Intel-based server infrastructure.
  • Timely incident resolution, patch deployment, and system upgrades.
  • Documentation of server configurations, processes, and operational procedures.
  • Monitoring reports and performance trend analyses.
  • Contribution to infrastructure modernization and optimization initiatives.
  • Knowledge transfer to SaskPower technical and operational teams.

About the Role

This 48-month contract is integral to our client’s IT service delivery and infrastructure modernization strategy. The Intel Server Support Specialist will collaborate with cross-functional technology teams to ensure high system reliability, security compliance, and alignment with corporate IT standards. The role requires a hands-on professional capable of balancing operational support with forward-looking infrastructure improvements.
