Network and Security Architect

We are Systematix and we are currently looking for a Network/Cyber Technical Architect to support the design and implementation of secure and scalable network architectures for our client’s operations in Hamilton and Nanticoke.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Network/Cyber Technical Architect to join their Information System Services team. This full-time contract role will be based onsite in Hamilton, supporting both the Hamilton and Nanticoke facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and scalable network architectures that support the client’s business operations. Safety is a core value, and the individual will make safety the #1 priority in the execution of all work activities, including monitoring contractor and vendor safety in support of work efforts.

This role reports to the Manager of Information System Services and requires 5 days onsite at the Hamilton Works and/or Nanticoke offices.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Network/Cyber Technical Architect will:
• Design and document secure network architectures based on business and technical requirements.
• Develop and maintain network diagrams and documentation for LAN, WAN, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Configure and manage networking hardware and software including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Implement and monitor network security protocols including VPNs, IDS/IPS, and zero-trust frameworks.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Plan for network scalability and future growth aligned with business needs.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, policies, and procedures.
• Develop and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to align network solutions with strategic goals.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members.
• Lead network-related projects from design through implementation and support.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies and cybersecurity trends.
• Evaluate and recommend new tools and platforms to enhance network and security posture.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Location: Hamilton / Nanticoke, Ontario
Type: Full-time contract (onsite, 5 days per week)
Duration: 12 months with potential for extension and/or conversion to permanent employment

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications such as:

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
• Strong understanding of LAN/WAN, cloud, and hybrid network architectures.
• Proficiency in network security tools and protocols.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of threat modeling, risk assessment, and incident response.
• Familiarity with SIEM, identity management, and secure coding practices.
• Hands-on experience with firewall design, intrusion detection, and encryption technologies.

STRATEGIC & ARCHITECTURAL SKILLS
• Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, SABSA).
• Ability to design cost-effective, secure solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Understanding of compliance standards (ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA).
• Experience developing and implementing security policies and procedures.

LEADERSHIP & COMMUNICATION
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven project management and organizational abilities.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving mindset.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior staff.
• Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced environment.

Network Support Analyst

We’re currently seeking a skilled Network Support Analyst to support our client, a major provincial energy utility, in delivering critical business and technology transformation initiatives. This role will have a strong focus on enterprise-level network operations, infrastructure support, and IT service delivery, supporting large-scale IT projects and business process optimization.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in network administration, solution delivery, and stakeholder engagement within complex, regulated environments such as utilities or energy.

Location & Work Hours

• Location: Onsite/Hybrid in Regina, Saskatchewan
• Start Date: October 1, 2025
• End Date: March 31, 2028
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST

Requirements

Mandatory Education & Experience

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in:
   – Enterprise-level network administration and support
   – Troubleshooting and optimizing LAN/WAN infrastructure
   – Configuring and managing routers, switches, and firewalls
   – Supporting network security and access controls
   – Monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving network performance issues
• Experience delivering IT infrastructure projects in large enterprise environments
• Demonstrated experience in regulated sectors (e.g., utilities, government, energy)

Desired Certifications

• CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
• CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional)
• ITIL Foundation or other service management framework
• Microsoft and Azure-related certifications are considered an asset:
   – Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate
   – Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios)
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure networking, and hybrid environments
• Experience implementing network security and compliance measures
• Exposure to utility business operations and regulatory frameworks
• Ability to work effectively in hybrid or onsite environments
• Exceptional communication and documentation skills for both technical and executive audiences

Key Deliverables

• Network performance monitoring, optimization, and incident reports
• Implementation of approved network architecture and configurations
• Troubleshooting and resolution documentation for infrastructure issues
• Configuration and change management records compliant with SaskPower standards
• Coordination with security, infrastructure, and application teams
• Knowledge transfer sessions and training documentation for internal teams

About the Role

This contract role supports our client’s strategic business and IT initiatives, with a focus on network infrastructure and enterprise-level IT transformation projects. The ideal candidate is analytical, delivery-focused, and highly collaborative, capable of managing multiple technical streams while driving forward project milestones. (~29 month contract)
