Financial Operations Specialists

We are Systematix and we are currently looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Operations Specialist to support financial planning, forecasting, and variance analysis for our client.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Our client is a global leader in science and technology, providing a breadth of expertise and solutions to customers worldwide. This role is critical to ensuring financial accuracy, budget discipline, and operational efficiency within a complex and fast-paced environment. As Financial Analyst you will be instrumental in managing financial forecasts, reconciling variances, and enhancing financial processes while collaborating with IT leaders to improve financial acumen. You will require a strong background in Finance with experience in General Ledger (GL), Amortization, Accruals, and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership to bring structure, clarity, and control to budgeting, forecasting, and financial operations.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and update monthly financial forecasts across the department
  • Reconcile forecast versus actuals and identify variances
  • Investigate discrepancies and support resolution of financial gap
  • Track, manage, and reconcile approximately 200–250 annual invoices
  • Follow up with vendors to ensure timely and accurate invoicing
  • Support invoice processing and ensure proper financial posting
  • Manage and reconcile cross-charges related to hosted resources across business units
  • Validate payroll-related expenses against budget allocations
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records and reporting
  • Continuously improve financial tracking, reporting, and control processes

ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS

  • 4+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or related field
  • Strong understanding of core accounting principles and budgeting practices
  • Advanced Excel skills including data analysis, reconciliation, and tracking
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and completeness
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies
  • Experience working with invoices, financial reconciliation, and forecasting
  • Comfortable working with sensitive financial data
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with stakeholders

ABOUT THE ROLE
6-month contract with strong potential for extension
Remote role aligned to Eastern Time Zone
Hourly rate: $55–$65 CAD per hour, based on experience

AI DISCLOSURE
This role may involve exposure to systems and tools that incorporate artificial intelligence. Candidates should be comfortable working in environments where AI-enabled tools support business processes.
