Electrical Engineering Technologist

Systematix is currently looking for an Electrical Engineering Technologist to enable design, integration and verification of key technologies on world-class, state-of-the-art analytical instruments for our Life Sciences technologies client.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Our client is one of North America’s leading Scientific Test and Measurement organizations, with offices worldwide. Their global footprint and outstanding service have made them a trusted partner worldwide amongst scientists in drug development, food and environment testing, and clinical research. Working as Engineering Technologist as part of the Hardware Product Development team, you will collaborate with high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams engaging in all phases of the product development life cycle process , from concept realization through to commercialization and post-launch.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performing system-level troubleshooting of test-beds during early research and product commercialization phases of project, to maximize test-bed evaluation uptime
  • Collaborating with engineering and/or research scientists to conduct system characterization, while documenting and reporting-out on measurements based upon experiments and evaluations.
  • Working closely with engineers, scientists and other engineering technologists to kit, assemble and integrate components and sub-assemblies for R&D-grade test-beds
  • Working with systems engineering and technical leads to ensure that proper configuration management of testbeds are maintained during above-noted project phases

ABOUT THE QUALIFICATIONS

    Accreditation from a Canadian college or equivalently-accredited post-secondary institution as an Electrical (EE) or Mechanical (ME) Engineering Technologist. Preference will be given to EE technologists who bring demonstrated experience in Mechanical integration, or ME technologists who bring a similar focus to Electrical integration.

    Eligibility for certification by a provincial or territorial association (eg OACETT) is a requirement

    Familiarity with manufacturing processes, and having direct experience in precision assembly and build of electro-mechanical prototypes (whether from a manufacturing or R&D environment ) is a strong asset

    Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and repair of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) through use of electronic test & measurement systems (eg DVMs, oscilloscopes, data loggers, logic analyzers, etc)

    3+ years of workplace experience in the above-mentioned capacity (co-op experience may be considered if relevant to the role)

    Must be proactive, results-oriented and willing to be part of a larger team working in conjunction with engineers and scientists.

    Ability able to multi-task between work activities, work to challenging deadlines and have strong organizational skills.

    Excellent report-writing and oral communication skills for creating and sharing reports

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a 6-month onsite contract role to be performed in the North Toronto area.
