Enterprise Automation & Integration Engineer
We are Systematix and we are currently looking for a highly experienced Senior Enterprise Automation & Integration Engineer to design and build automation solutions supporting critical enterprise IT, compliance and business processes for one of our key clients.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Our client is a global leader in science and technology with a complex enterprise technology environment supporting operations around the world. As part of an ongoing initiative to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes across corporate IT, the organization is investing in intelligent automation, enterprise integration and modern application development.
The successful candidate will initially focus on automating two significant business processes: a new enterprise Resource Capability Tracker and a number of IT SOX evidence collection processes. From there, the role is expected to support additional automation opportunities across the organization.
This is a senior, hands-on engineering position requiring someone who can work across the full lifecycle of an automation initiative — engaging with process owners, understanding the current state, designing the target solution, building the application and integrations, and deploying a secure, production-ready solution.
ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, build and deploy enterprise automation solutions integrating multiple systems of record.
- Develop production integrations and data pipelines across enterprise platforms including ServiceNow, Workday, Active Directory/Entra ID, SailPoint, Asana, Jira and ServiceNow SPM.
- Automate IT governance, compliance and SOX evidence collection processes.
- Design and build modern web applications using React and TypeScript.
- Develop Microsoft Teams applications using Teams Toolkit, Teams JavaScript SDK and appropriate SSO/OBO authentication patterns.
- Design and implement robust REST API integrations using OAuth and appropriate patterns for pagination, rate limiting, retries, idempotency and reconciliation.
- Develop production-grade backend services and automation using Python and/or .NET.
- Use Microsoft Graph to discover and process files, metadata and related information across Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive while respecting enterprise permissions.
- Develop and maintain data integrations using Snowflake or comparable enterprise data platforms.
- Design and deploy solutions using Azure application services including Container Apps, Azure Functions, Key Vault, Managed Identity, Application Insights and Azure SQL.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, Terraform or comparable technologies.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.
- Develop automated tests and follow disciplined source control, peer review and deployment practices.
- Incorporate AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code or comparable technologies into engineering workflows where appropriate.
- Design and implement agentic AI capabilities, including solutions leveraging Microsoft Copilot, to automate enterprise tasks and workflows.
- Ensure secure handling of credentials, identity information, HR records and other sensitive enterprise data.
- Design automation solutions appropriate for regulated, controlled and audited environments.
- Maintain appropriate technical documentation and evidence to support audit and compliance requirements.
- Conduct discovery sessions with business and technology process owners.
- Document current-state processes, identify automation opportunities and develop target-state solutions.
- Define clear business and technical acceptance criteria and work with stakeholders through implementation and validation.
- Identify additional opportunities to replace manual processes with scalable, secure and maintainable automation.
ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS
- 7+ years of experience building production-grade enterprise integrations, applications, automation solutions and/or data pipelines.
- Demonstrated integration experience with at least two major enterprise domains such as:
- ITSM and IT governance platforms such as ServiceNow.
- HR platforms such as Workday.
- Identity platforms including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID and/or SailPoint.
- Enterprise work management platforms such as Asana, Jira or ServiceNow SPM.
- Strong hands-on development experience with React and TypeScript.
- Production-level development experience using Python and/or .NET.
- Strong REST API and OAuth integration engineering experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of enterprise integration patterns including pagination, rate limiting, retries, idempotency and reconciliation.
- Experience developing applications or integrations using Microsoft Graph.
- Experience working with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive data and permissions.
- Experience with Snowflake or comparable enterprise database/data platforms.
- Strong Microsoft Azure application development experience.
- Experience with Azure Container Apps and/or Azure Functions, Key Vault, Managed Identity, Application Insights and Azure SQL.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience using Bicep, Terraform or comparable technologies.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.
- Strong automated testing, source control and code review practices.
- Experience with Docker, containers and modern cloud application deployment patterns.
- Demonstrated experience delivering production automation within regulated, controlled or audited enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of security requirements associated with credentials, identity information and sensitive enterprise data.
- Ability to independently conduct discovery with business and technical process owners.
- Ability to translate business processes into technical designs, target-state workflows and measurable acceptance criteria.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow integrations and automation.
- Experience integrating Workday, Entra ID, Active Directory, SailPoint, Asana, Jira and/or ServiceNow SPM.
- Experience developing Microsoft Teams applications using Teams Toolkit and Teams JavaScript SDK.
- Experience implementing SSO and On-Behalf-Of authentication patterns.
- Advanced Microsoft Graph experience across Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
- Experience with SOX controls, IT compliance or automated evidence collection.
- Experience working within large, global enterprise environments.
- Experience with AI-assisted software engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor or Claude Code.
- Hands-on experience implementing agentic AI solutions and Microsoft Copilot-based automation.
- Experience identifying and delivering enterprise process automation opportunities from initial discovery through production implementation.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an initial 6-month contract opportunity, working remotely within Canada, with a strong likelihood of extension based on ongoing business requirements.
The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative enterprise IT environment and will be expected to operate with significant independence. This is not a role for someone who simply takes predefined technical requirements and codes against them. We are looking for an experienced engineer who can engage directly with process owners, understand the underlying business problem, recommend an appropriate solution and then personally build and deliver it.
The anticipated start date is late September to early October.
