Application Management Specialist

We’re seeking an experienced Application Management Specialist to support our client, a major provincial energy utility, in maintaining, enhancing, and optimizing enterprise applications that underpin critical operations across the organization. This role provides advanced technical support, lifecycle management, troubleshooting, and enhancement delivery for complex enterprise systems that must run reliably, securely, and efficiently.

LOCATION & WORK HOURS

  • Location: Onsite – Regina, Saskatchewan
  • Start Date: January 1, 2026
  • End Date: January 31, 2027
  • Contract Length: 13 months
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours
  • Availability: May require occasional after-hours or weekend work for releases, upgrades, or incident response
  • Clearance: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and pass the client’s required background and education verification checks

THE ROLE – Application Management Specialist
In this role, you will be responsible for the ongoing support, stability, and improvement of key enterprise applications. You will investigate and resolve incidents, coordinate enhancements and upgrades, maintain operational documentation, and collaborate with technical and business teams to support integration and system changes.

Responsibilities include monitoring application performance, executing patching and release cycles, assisting with root-cause analysis, and ensuring adherence to governance frameworks. You will play a central role in keeping essential business systems functional, secure, and aligned with the client’s enterprise technology strategy.

MANDATORY EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5–10+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise applications
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex application issues
  • Experience working with multi-tier architectures (web, application, database)
  • Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid)
  • Knowledge of integration concepts, APIs, web services, and middleware tools
  • Familiarity with IT security frameworks, identity and access management, and data governance
  • Experience using monitoring systems, logging tools, and ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira)
  • Ability to create and maintain support documentation, procedures, and knowledge articles
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS

  • ITIL v4 Foundation (highly preferred)
  • Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, or other platform-specific certifications
  • Agile certifications (Scrum Master, Product Owner)
  • Azure or AWS certification (asset)

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working within utilities, energy, or public-sector environments
  • Strong vendor coordination skills for defect resolution and enhancements
  • Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and middleware technologies
  • Experience supporting modernization, migration, or application transformation initiatives
  • Comfortable working in structured governance and change-management environments
  • Experience supporting release planning, testing cycles, and environment coordination
  • Ability to conduct RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and communicate findings effectively

KEY DELIVERABLES

  • Provide day-to-day application support, monitoring, and issue resolution
  • Maintain application stability, performance, and operational health
  • Coordinate and deliver enhancements, patches, and release documentation
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, data governance, and operational standards
  • Maintain accurate technical and operational documentation
  • Support integrations with internal and external systems
  • Participate in planning for application lifecycle upgrades, migrations, and improvements
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and collaborate with teams to prevent recurrence

This 13-month onsite engagement offers the opportunity to play a key role in supporting mission-critical enterprise systems at one of Saskatchewan’s major energy providers. The successful candidate will ensure application reliability and performance, while supporting ongoing modernization and enhancement efforts that strengthen the province’s energy technology ecosystem.
