Mainframe Programmer Analyst

We are Systematix and we are looking for a Mainframe Programmer Analyst to fill a one-year+ contract positionfor one of our key clientele in the financial services industry in Toronto.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Our client, one of Canada’s leading insurance providers, with regional offices across Canada,requires a dynamic Mainframe Programmer Analyst. You will be responsible for communication with internal team members with a strong emphasis on systems analysis, design, development, technical planning, support maintenance, unit and systems testing. This will include developing effective applications and providing systems solutions to address business challenges and ever-changing needs.You demonstrate abilities to communicate your thoughts, design, and ideas effectively with team members, project managers, delivery partners, quality assurance teams, business sponsors and stakeholders to clarify requirements.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES

Greater emphasis on bug-free programming, create, and maintain quality code, provide support during QA testing and post production implementations.

Analyze and resolve incidents with minimal supervision, identify issues and resolve quickly with a programming fix, suggest temporary work-around if possible.

Fully understand business applications and technical systems environments including end-to-end processing of a business transaction.

Demonstrate technical expertise in mainframe batch and online processing

Participate in daily scrum meetings, contribute to project plans, estimations, and status updates.

Must follow client'stechnology delivery practices, IT standards, and project management disciplines.

Thorough unit testing of programming changes to ensure the defect-free release of code for quality assurance testing.

Communicate effectively and work with team members, Managed Services, DBAs, and Operational Support Group (external data center hosted by business partner)

Follow up production control issues reported in the daily shift report

ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS

Post-secondary school education with an Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or arelated field

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (Experience in the Insurance or Financialindustry would be a strong asset).

Expert knowledge of z/OS (MVS) COBOL, CICS, VSAM, DB2.

DB2 SQL knowledge.

Proficiency in JCL, Procedures.

Familiarity with BMC Control-M, Control-M/EM.

Experience with tools, such as, Tracemaster, Dumpmaster, Insync, Abendaid.

Experience in agile methodologies.

Must have strong communication skills.

Must be able to work independently under minimal supervision.

Ability to manage multiple and changing projects and priorities in a dynamic environment, and deliver results to deadlines.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a one-year+ contractposition involving a hybrid work model requiring remote and onsite work at client'smain office based in the downtown Toronto financial district. A flexible schedule is offered for onsite work. There will be one-to-tworenewal options of one year each based on performance.
