Project Manager – Software Product Development

We are Systematix and we are currently looking for a Project Manager for our Lifescience client.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

Our client is a global leader in scientific instrumentation and analytical technologies. They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead software development initiatives supporting next-generation life sciences products.

In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end delivery of Windows-based applications developed in C#/.NET, guiding cross-functional engineering teams through the full product development lifecycle. The environment is highly technical and regulated, requiring strong project discipline, technical fluency, and the ability to drive alignment across diverse stakeholders.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of software development projects supporting scientific instrumentation products. You will work closely with engineering, quality, and business stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to quality standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading software development projects focused on Windows-based applications using C# and .NET

  • Managing cross-functional teams of 4–8 people, including developers, testers, technical writers, and scientific domain specialists

  • Negotiating with functional managers to secure resources and meet delivery commitments

  • Developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and execution plans using PMP-aligned methodologies

  • Ensuring adherence to the product development lifecycle, quality processes, documentation requirements, and compliance standards

  • Monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and proactively removing impediments

  • Communicating project status, risks, and dependencies to senior leadership and stakeholders

  • Facilitating issue resolution and cross-functional collaboration

  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO and product development teams

REQUIREMENTS:

Must-have:

  • 3+ years of experience managing software development projects

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional engineering teams

  • Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, XP, or similar)

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills in fast-paced or ambiguous environments

  • Demonstrated experience in project risk management

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including stakeholder and resource manager engagement

  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, scope, and deliverables

  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, MS Project, or equivalent

Nice-to-have:

  • Engineering-based education (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline)

  • PMP and/or Agile (ACP) certification

  • Background in software development

  • Bio/Life Sciences or scientific instrumentation domain experience

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Location: Hybrid – North Toronto (3 days onsite per week)
Duration: Contract
Work hours: 37.5 hrs/week

PAY DISCLOSURE:

The average hourly pay range for this field is as follows (CAD):

Junior: 0–5 years of experience — $70–80/hr
Intermediate: 6–9 years of experience — $80–90/hr
Senior: 10+ years of experience — $90–95/hr

Compensation is commensurate with these standards; exceptions may apply based on experience, skills, and market conditions.
